That is a first class beauty trend: defeat the airport scanners with liquid-free skin care products
Are you dreaming of your next holiday in a wet and windy January?
You are not alone – and the beauty industry has also considered our travel plans and how you can beat the strict limit of 100 ml containers on cosmetics, toiletries, creams, lotions and oils for hand luggage at airport security.
According to skincare experts, the answer is to solidify everything from moisturizer to make-up remover. It is the era of beauty on a stick!
"Traveling with liquids has always been tricky", says skin therapist and leading make-up artist Frances Prescott. “Every time I went through security, I dropped a product from me. I thought, "Why am I still falling into this trap?"
Creating Tri-Balm, a solid, multi-purpose moisturizer in a sturdy tube, streamlined Frances' beauty arsenal and removed the risk of her items being seized and the hassle of decanting her drinks into small, safety-friendly containers.
Anna Maxted tested a selection of the latest liquid-free beauty supplies that will not break, leak or spill while on the road, she says.
But this trend is not just for high flyers. Neat, portable and guaranteed to not leak, spill or explode over your bag, these products are perfect for the gym or to refresh at work for a night out.
"When I travel through the country, or stay with a friend, I want portability, convenience and something that will not break or spill, which you can throw in your bag," Frances adds. “It is great for sporting people, working women, mothers and people who are out and about.” In other words, almost everyone.
Here we try the best. . .
3-IN-1 TAKES THE SOFT APPROACH
Frances Prescott Tri-Balm, £46
Anna was impressed by the ability of Frances Prescott Tri-Balm to brighten and soften her skin.
With its fragrance of essential oils of mandarin and geranium, which belong to exotic places, this balm is heavenly. Whether you are going to Bali or Brighton, it is the perfect travel companion. The cleansing, when rinsed with water, exfoliates, thanks to pumpkin seed enzymes that carefully dispose of dead cells and rehydrates.
Tri-Balm also contains a form of hyaluronic acid, which helps retain moisture, and contains skin-caring goodies – carrot oil, rich in vitamins A, B, C, D, E and F, wheat germ oil, with protective antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids and rice bran oil, for elasticity and plumpness.
It is also free of parabens, silicones and sulphates and the tube is recycled plastic.
After use, my skin is brighter and softer, so that I can still touch my ears in disbelief. 5/5
