Clean up with cleansing balms

If you’re a make-up lover, the struggle to take the day off after a big night out is real sometimes, and we’re often guilty of reaching for the face wipes.

But if you're the type of person who doesn't like washing your face, a cleansing balm could be the solution.

Cleansing balms are oil-based cleansers of a thicker, paste-like consistency that do the same work as liquid oil cleansers - they dissolve grime but with less hassle. They typically contain skin-loving essential oils, and plenty of hydrating ingredients. And in cooler temperatures, balm is basically an effective option to remove dirt and oil without overly drying the skin.

Several of the best balms on the beauty shelves require no water, you just massage, wipe away, and allow the leftover goodness to soak in, leaving your skin even more supple.

Simply warm a little (around a coin's worth) on your fingertips, massage into your face, adding a little water if you like, and gently remove with a warm flannel, a mitt or a muslin cloth soaked in warm water, avoiding the eye area.

Follow up with your usual face wash, toner, serum, moisturiser, and whatever else your skincare routine brings.

Basically, they’re so nourishing and easy to use, they turn removing your make-up into an enjoyable treat at the end of the day.
